How to invest in direct plans of mutual funds

I am new to Mutual funds and have been learning useful information from your website. I have 50k in my savings account and want to invest in Debt funds for 2.5 years. I have a doubt. How much tax will I have to pay on returns in the case of debt funds. Also I want to go for direct investment rather than by mediator. Please provide the information on procedural aspects for direct investment of debt funds, and Tax amounts on final returns?

Is my fund selection good considering that I am retired

I am a 66 years old retired person with no pension who depend on return from my investments for monthly expenses. I have been following your posts continuously and find it very useful. I have invested all my retirement benefits in the following funds in addition to maximum limit in SCSS and POSB MIS for regular income. As a first time investor I made this portfolio myself about a year back without any expert's advice. I just wish whether I could get my portfolio reviewed by you once since I like to consolidate my portfolio to about 5 to 6 funds as there are too many funds. Could you please help me in reviewing and consolidating my portfolio? My funds are as below and all of them are Direct funds. Have I invested in right funds for achieving long term goals

I am 26 years old working professional and moderate to high risk taker. I have invested in HDFC Mid Cap Opportunity Fund (Rs 3000), DSPBR Micro Cap Fund (Rs 2000), Kotak Select Focus (Rs 3000), ICICI Focused Blue-chip Fund (Rs 2000) and Reliance Small Cap Fund (Rs 2000) through SIP for goal of long term (7-8 years) corpus generation. Additionally, I am also investing in Reliance small cap fund (Rs 2000) and DSP BR Micro Cap fund (Rs 2000) through SIP for retirement goal. I have also invested lumsump amount of 50,000 in Jan 17 in SBI Magnum Tax gain Dividend pay out scheme for tax saving purpose. I like to know whether my selection of funds are good and SIP amount is sufficient for achieving all goals in given time frame. I have budget of 20000 per month for SIP?

Till now all our bIG investments are in FD, PPF, KVP, LIC, NSC, KVP. Kindly suggest a well diversified portfolio for us with moderate risk.
