As you are a beginner and about to start investing in mutual funds, we suggest that you start with low risk funds. As your investment horizon is 3 years only, you can invest Rs 2,000 through SIPs in hybrid debt oriented funds, also known as MIPs. This category of funds has given around 12% annual returns in the last 5 years.

You can choose one of schemes from the two top performing funds – ICICI Prudential MIP 25 Growth or Birla Sun Life MIP Wealth 25 Plan Growth and start your SIP.

As you mentioned, you are new to mutual funds, do read out articles regularly https://www.advisorkhoj.com/articles and also visit our Mutual Fund Knowledge section https://www.advisorkhoj.com/mutual-funds

The other suggestion is that you should contact a mutual fund advisor in your city in order to take his help for setting up your SIP and advise.

Hope the above helps. Thanks for writing to Advisorkhoj.
