It seems you are young. If it is so, investing in equity funds through monthly SIP can be the best option for you to reach your goal of building a home after 15 years.

Though the returns from mutual fund are not assured, based on assumption of 12.50% annual return, if you invest Rs 13,300 per month you can achieve the goal of Rs 70 Lakhs in 15 years. However, if the assumed rate of return is 13.50% then you can achieve this goal by investing only Rs 12,200 per month through monthly SIP.

You can invest in large cap and diversified equity funds and some of the good choices could be SBI Bluechip Fund, Birla Sun Life Advantage Fund, ICICI Prudential Value Discovery Fund, DSP BlackRock Opportunities Fund or Kotak Select Focus Fund.
