Thanks for writing to us and happy to learn that you want to save for your grand children.

We assume that your grand children would require this money after 5 and 8 years respectively. Therefore, we would not suggest you to take high risk by investing these in pure equity funds. Instead of that you can invest in balanced funds. As you may be knowing that balanced fund invest 65% of the portfolio into equities and the rest in debt instruments.

You can expect 12% return from balanced funds as your investment horizon is minimum 5 years. Moreover, long term capital gains from balanced funds are also tax free. You can check the historical performances of top balanced funds from here https://www.advisorkhoj.com/mutual-funds...

If you are interested to invest in balanced funds, the you may consider these funds - ICICI Prudential Balanced Fund. SBI Magnum Balanced Fund, Birla Sun Life Balanced 95 Fund, DSP BlackRock Balanced Fund and HDFC Balanced Fund.

Hope this answers your query. The answer will be emailed to you through a link clicking on which you will land on the section of our website where the same is posted.
