We always suggest investing in mutual funds based on one's risk appetite and investment horizon. It would have been better had I knew your risk profile.

However, if you can take moderate risk, do invest through monthly SIPs in balanced funds. Here, ICICI Prudential Balanced Fund, Therefore, SBI Magnum Balanced Fund and HDFC Balanced Fund can be good choices.

In case your risk appetite is higher, then invest in large cap funds. SBI Bluechip Fund, Birla Sun Life Top 100 Fund and DSP BlackRock Focus 25 Fund are amongst top performing in this category.

And in case you can take highest risk in anticipation of getting highest return, diversified equity funds and mid & small cap funds are good choices. You may invest in any of these funds - ICICI Prudential Value Discovery Fund, Birla Sun Life Advantage Fund, SBI Magnum Midcap Fund and Mirae Asset Emerging Bluechip fund.

Please note that investments in the above fund categories/ schemes should be for minimum 5 years horizon but as your investment horizon is 15 years you need not worry and invest in the appropriate funds based on your risk profile.

Happy investing !
