My father want to invest in mutual fund. His current age is 73 years and he wish to stay invested for 3 to 4 years. He wishes to take moderate risk. Please suggest the suitable fund for him and also suggest lump sum investment or SIP will be best option for him?
Considering your father's risk profile which is moderate and the investment horizon of 3-4 years, we can suggest him to invest in hybrid debt funds also known as MIPs.
He can invest in lump sum and/ or through monthly SIPs depending upon the liquidity he has in hand. For example - if he has some investible surplus in hand now, he can invest in lump sum. For the surplus amount that he may have every month after meeting all his expenses can be invested through monthly SIPs.
