What is the optimum time horizon if I invest in balanced fund SWP

I would like to invest 50 lakh of my retirement fund in equity oriented hybrid MFs basically to save on tax. Can you please suggest some high yielding funds. Also please suggest optimum time horizon. Is it a good idea to withdraw after every 12 months and reinvest? How do returns from this compare to returns from gold emfs?

Please note the following -

1. Yes, you can invest in hybrid equity oriented funds (balanced funds) for withdrawing by way of monthly SWPs. Capital gains arising out of each SWP withdrawal after 12 months will be tax fee under long term capital gains.

2. The investment horizon should ideally be 5 years or more.

3. If you need the monthly withdrawals then opt for SWPs. Otherwise, do not withdraw and reinvest and let the lump sum investment grow under 'growth option', In any case you should invest in 'growth' option. The idea is if required, withdraw a fixed amount every month or else let it grow.

4. Some of the top performing balanced funds are - HDFC Balanced Fund, Birla Sun Life Balanced 95 Fund, ICICI Prudential Balanced Fund, SBI Magnum Balanced Fund and DSP BlackRock Balanced Fund.

5. Historically, returns from equity and balanced fund has been higher than that of Gold. Please check this link https://www.advisorkhoj.com/mutual-funds... which compares the return of HDFC Balanced Fund with that of fixed deposits and gold over last 16 years !

Hope the above helps! Thanks !!
