Thanks Pradip for sharing the feedback. BSL debt fund I am investing is "BSL dynamic bond fund - Retail growth". About my portfolio mix, I am OK to take the risk as these investments are longer term (more than 5 years). Actually this portfolio is to generate the corpus for my retirement which is in 8 to 10 years. I am planning to retire early (around 50 years). I know the current monthly SIP is not enough to meet retirement plan as I am looking for 2 Crore corpus. I will increase my SIP amount in coming months. Please suggest whether am I am on right track or not? Again I appreciate a lot for your efforts to educate the investor. It's amazing to see depth of knowledge you are sharing. Keep up the fantastic work.
1. If you investing for the long term for your retirement goal, then avoid investing in BSL Dynamic Bond Fund and HDFC High Interest Fund. Please note that, unlike equities, the long term capital gain tax on debt funds is not entirely tax free. However, to enjoy the benefit of both debt and equity and also to enjoy totally tax free long term capital gains, you can invest in balanced funds.
Therefore, in lieu if BSL Dynamic Bond Fund start SIP in BSL Balanced 95 Fund and in lieu of HDFC High Interest Fund, start SIP in HDFC Balanced Fund.
2. Now with regards to creating corpus of 2 Crores after 8-10 years, please note that your monthly SIP of Rs. 37,500 is not sufficient. Even if we assume the investment tenure as 10 years and return at 15% the total corpus that you can accumulate through this will only be Rs. 1.05 Crores. 15% return may be little ambitious, therefore, if you calculate at 12.50%, the corpus would be around Rs. 90 Lakhs only.
3. Therefore, you need to increase your monthly SIP amount considerably to meet the retirement goal of 2 Crores after 10 years. Your monthly SIP should be around Rs. 85,000 to meet this goal, assuming return at 12.50%. Please try this tool to calculate the SIP returns https://www.advisorkhoj.com/tools-and-calculators...
Hope the above helps. Thanks for the kind words about Advisorkhoj : )
