First of all thank you so much for your most helpful advisorkhoj website. I daily follow your website. I am 26 year old. I have Invested Lump sum amount 1,00,000 in DSP BlackRock Microcap Fund, 85000 in Franklin Smaller Companies Growth, 50000 in Axis Long Term Equity Fund, 50000 in Birla Sunlife MNC Fund. I Have Invested in SIPs Are 5000 Franklin India Prima Fund, 1000 SBI Magnum Global Fund, 1000 HDFC Tax Saver Fund, 1000 Reliance Growth Fund, 1000 DSP BlackRock Microcap Fund, 500 DSP BlackRock Small and Mid Cap Fund, 500 DSP BlackRock Focus 25 Fund. So please Can you tell me my fund selection are good or not? I am able to take high risk, and I want 2 new more SIP. So can you suggest me the fund in which I can invest? I am eagerly waiting for your reply?
Thanks for the kind words and glad to note that you found our website helpful and follow it daily.
The funds you have selected for your lump sum investments are good. However, please note that Birla Sun Life MNC Fund is a thematic fund and only if your risk profile is very high that you should continue to hold this fund. You need to be extra cautious when you invest in thematic funds as you are not sure when the theme will play out and get you the desired returns. Once you have made your desired returns from Birla Sun Life MNC fund you should shift the investments to one of their diversified equity funds - Birla Sun Life Equity Fund and Birla Sun Life Advantage Fund are two top performing diversified equity funds from Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund stable.
Coming back to your SIP investments, you have mostly invested in small and midcap funds excepting one fund each in ELSS and large cap category. Here we have two suggestions –
1. Stop you investments in SBI Magnum Global Fund and start investing in SBI Magnum Multi-Cap Fund or SBI Blue Chip Fund
2. As you want to invest in new SIPs, we suggest you go for diversified equity funds or large cap funds. The choice here could be ICICI Prudential Value Discovery Fund, Birla Sun Life Equity Fund, SBI Magnum Multi-cap Fund, SBI Blue Chip Fund, Kotak Select Focus Fund or Franklin India High Growth companies Fund.
Hope the above helps. Thanks for writing to Advisorkhoj.
