At present shall I continue investing in sahara credit cooperative society Ltd.?
The Sahara Credit Cooperative Society is not regulated by SEBI or RBI. About a year back, the liability of the society was more than Rs 35,000 crores. Sahara had said back then that, they expected to bring it down to Rs 25,000 crores. Sahara had claimed it had high quality assets to back the liability, but as per an Economic times report, the value of asset, e.g. land, is less than Rs 6,500 crores, i.e. less than 20% of the liabilities. You are most likely aware that, an Enforcement Directorate probe is underway on the Sahara matter. Sahara on their part has moved to Supreme Court to secure bails for Subrata Roy and other top officials. Since investigations are underway and the matter is subjudice, it is not appropriate for Advisorkhoj.com to comment on the potential outcomes. However, purely from a financial viewpoint, if you are an fixed deposit investor, capital safety should be your prime concern. As such, if you are not comfortable with the safety of your capital invested in Sahara Credit Cooperative Society, you should immediately discontinue your investments and take recourse to all the measures necessary to ensure your capital safety.
